That was some rain
Weather sure is happening today: a severe thunderstorm rolled into New York today, bringing high winds, thunder, and a heckuva lot of Instagram and Twitter posts with it. But this is no mere dusting of rain; the storm is considered severe, and will likely affect the city through the evening. There's a flash flood warning in place until 8 p.m.
The rain, which started around 4:30 p.m., is bad enough that it's caused some disruptions to day-to-day life. The High Line tweeted that it's closing early because of inclement weather, and looking at a video from the elevated park, it's easy to see why:

The MTA has also alerted passengers to the likelihood that subway stations will be a mess tonight:
Due to this afternoon's inclement weather, stairs and platforms may be slippery. Please walk, don't run. Watch your step.
